Salem Friends Meeting invites you to a book talk on March 28th at 7PM EST with childhood member, Esther Leidolf, to discuss her memoir, “NOT UNCOMMON, Just Unheard Of.” Esther’s story starts as a union carpenter in Boston, but ends up with a discovery about herself that changed the way she looks at the world. As a child, Esther was subjected to unnecessary medical treatment because she was born with intersex traits. This experience delves into challenges with identity and the implications that means in today‘s society.
Friends should be aware that the conversation will discuss sex and gender, as well as questionable medical protocols.
There is still time to read the book if you haven’t done so yet. Signed copies can be purchased mrkh.org/shop/  Print and eBook copies are also also available at barnes and noble, amazon, bookshop.org, and can be ordered though your local bookstore.
